The Stewardship of St. Paul's UMC
"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing." Malachi 3:10 (NRSV)
I know of no congregation, or parishioner, that truly enjoys the subject of Stewardship and tithing. But if we are to follow the word of the Lord our God, returning unto Him a portion of His gifts is our responsibility. Extravagant Generosity is truly a United Methodist teaching and a vital part of growing the Mission and Ministry of Jesus Christ in every Church in every corner of the world. Tithing not only allows the church to continue operating it's building and staff, but allows the Church to answer the call to serve through missions and outreach.
This page will provide information about our programs and contacts if you would like to get involved.

Our Food Pantry is available to residents of Toledo who are in need of food assistance to supplement their food assistance benefits. The pantry is open every Friday from 10:00a.m.-1:00p.m. and is a part of Marketplace For All People. Both programs are run with the gracious volunteerism of several members of our congregation and the surrounding community. Persons who receive food from the pantry may return once every week. The only documentation we ask for is proof of residency. You may use your I.D., mail with you name and address, or anything that proves where you live. You must know the age and birthdate of all members living in your household also. This information will also help if you are interested in shopping in the Marketplace For All People store.
Marketplace For All People is a program for the community. It is a free store for ALL People to shop in, but it is so much more. Come and shop. Help by serving as a volunteer during store hours, and your reward; you will get to go shopping before the rest of the community, even before we open the doors! Come and help with sorting and re-stocking items when the Marketplace is closed and as a token of our appreciation, you will be allowed to go through the Marketplace first.
Church families can donate (see our Mission and Outreach page). Come and serve in the Marketplace, or help us to sort and restock when the store is closed.
Please contact the Church or Mark Stiab if you are willing to help.
A number of groups meet here at St. Paul's lending support to the HIV/AIDS community. Not only do we provide 3 different support groups a warm safe environment to discuss the impact of their illness, we also host the Consumer Advisory Panel which helps people living with this illness decide funding and medication needs. We also host the Lucas County Health Department's Regional Advisory Group with a meeting space as county wide finding decisions are made.
